I'm in Pensacola, which is in the potential target area. Even if it hits us dead-on, though, we'll probably be fine. I've been through three hurricanes in my life (Andrew, Ivan, Katrina) and loved 'em.
I love storms, and while the damage they can cause indeed sucks...that doesn't stop me from loving them, heh.
You've yet to be hit by a really strong one. Wait until a Cat 5 directly hits Pensacola and you will probably change your tune. :) Remember, as the wind goes up the damage it causes is exponential. 150 MPH winds will cause far more damage than 130MPH winds.

Where in New York? The New York coast line is vunerable to hurricanes. Look up the Long Island Express hurricane.

i live in florida as well. tropical storm came, but missed me. a guy was para-sailing during the storm on purpose and hit a building. he said to the news reporters he was still going to do para-sailing during storms....idiot. hopefully The Swain and Egoraptor make it alive.
