Wii Freezes?

Posted by WadeFulp Jul. 19, 2007 @ 12:48 AM EDT

Played the Wii tonight for like 3-4 hours. It had some error when my wife and I were playing Cooking Mama or whatever (she wanted it). Then I was playing Wii Sports and I was Golfing when it just froze. Is this normal Wii behavior? Should I exchange it? I got the replacement plan, so they could just swap it.

Just to be safe, I'd send it back and get a replacement. This sounds more like Xbox 360 behavior to me.

This is normal for a wii. But if it dose it very often I would exchange it.

My thoughts are to return it.
Swap it...

My Wii works fine. That does sound odd. I would call nintendo about and see what they say. They will probably replace it. BTW This is Matt, the kid who you met a couple days ago. Enjoi the new system :D

Hey Matt! I got the replacement plan, so they would have to swap it. I'll see if it keeps doing it.

Mine doesnt do that. Ehh. Just give it back to the Game Stop and theyll probably give you a new one or give you the adress to send it to,

I asked my friend, he said his never froze with him.
Also, your banner is just fantastic and a half.

Ha, blame your wife on Cooking Mama... Don't try to trick us >_^

For your Wii: Did it work fine after you restarted it? If so, it was probably an uncommon problem; I wouldn't waste the plan (or is it unlimited swaps?) on a one-time problem.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 2:16 AM MARINE says:

i would send it back. But before u do. Make sure its not around anything like in a really confined space or anything where it would overheat

Jul. 19, 2007 | 2:19 AM Toasty4you says:

That happened to me only once since January 21st when I first got my Wii, so yes, I guess I'd consider it normal.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 2:19 AM MrFinland says:

I would send it back. Hasn't ever happened to me.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 10:05 AM RupeeClock says:

I've never heard of the wii just randomly freezing, although I have had cases where the Wii refuses to receive any Wiimote input.

If this problem persists, you should make use of that replacement plan.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 11:40 AM firemario1 says:

It never happened to me, ask someone at Gamespot if it's normal, and if you have to replace it, send it to Nintendo.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 1:14 PM Steve84 says:

Wade you should phone nintendo or exchage it that does not sound normal at all

Jul. 19, 2007 | 1:37 PM ExtraLife says:

The Wii Sports freezing issue occasionally happens to me. Only when I had been playing for long periods of time though.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 1:41 PM Epica says:

I'd get it exchanged while you still can.

Also, read your emails and recover my alt >:|. :P

Jul. 19, 2007 | 1:46 PM AlexJS says:

That's very odd. Nintendo's consoles are known for durability, so the Wii shouldn't freeze...

I'd call Nintendo of America and get a replacement.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 2:23 PM Deadly-Shadow says:

Your Wii froze? That's very uncommon, I suggest you exchange it.

Jul. 19, 2007 | 2:57 PM puddinN64 says:

Destroy it.

Jul. 20, 2007 | 9:47 PM Darkside7000 says:

I've heard of some problems concerning the heatsinks in some Wii's. Take it back, or if you want your data transfered call Nintendo and see if you can get it replaced that way. They should give you one for free and transfer your data to the new one.

Jul. 21, 2007 | 6:06 PM lol4ever says:

Uhm nop its not normal.
i would exchange it.

Jul. 21, 2007 | 7:00 PM TheManBehindTheFlash says:

Same thing kind of happened to me. I was playing a GC game on it for like hours on end and then next time I turned it on it wouldn't turn on. Next time im feeling not lazy im gonna get a replacement.

Jul. 23, 2007 | 1:38 AM DarkSoldier says:

my wii froze a few times also.

Jul. 23, 2007 | 9:53 PM condawg says:

Yeah, I'd get a replacement...
I've had a Wii since January and have had times where I play The Godfather for hours on end (great game), and it's never once frozen on me.

Jul. 26, 2007 | 12:16 AM RydiaLockheart says:

I also have Cooking Mama. The only issue I had with it was that my Wii didn't read the disc until it retrieved updates. That's when I first bought the game. Since then, it's worked fine.

I suggest that you keep an eye on it. If it keeps doing it, go ahead and get a replacement.
