3G iPhone!

Well, I broke down and decided to get a 3G iPhone for the wife and I. We went with the 8GB versions to keep the cost down. Our old Verizon contract was up and we were due for new phones. It looks like the iPhone plan may end up being a bit cheaper than what we were paying with Verizon. The main reason I went with the iPhone is due to new App Store and all the cool apps that keep coming out.

The new Simplify Media app lets me connect to my home iTunes library and listen to it away from home. This means I don't need a huge iPod that can hold all of my MP3's in the unit. There is also AOL Radio, Tuner, and Pandora which let me stream music as well.

However, there has been a lot of news lately about poor 3G performance. So if you happen to have a 3G iPhone, how has it been performing for you? I just put in 2.0.2 so I haven't had a chance to try the latest update in a 3G area, I only have Edge around my house.

Hey Niraj. I think Twinkle is better since 2.0.2, but I think the GPS with Google Maps isn't as good, seems slower to track.

The only reason why I would buy a IPhone is when they allow Flash Games to be played on it.

I don't need an iPhone. I already got 2 laptops, a flatscreen tv, one iPod, one mp4. I'm already happy with my life so there's no need to buy me an iPhone. :p

Nope. Makes me ANGRY. Hehe. I want it to play Flash. So many things on the web are Flash, such as Youtube's player, and many other media players. I think they don't want Flash to work so you will have to pay Apple to view video streams, etc, in the future.

I plan to wait a little bit longer til they make a kick ass touch phone. In the mean time, enjoy the 3G iphone. Make sure it doesn't crack. I hear that's been really common lately.

Never hurts to wait. Especially if they are having hardware issues with the current 3G. Time will tell if software can fix it or not.

I figure the 3G iPhone now offers enough things that it can be useful to me. It has GPS, I can web browse (terminate NG accounts from anywhere), check my email, get on AIM, listen to my iTunes from anywhere, etc. When my contract is up in 2 years there will probably be a better iPhone (4G?) with a better camera, maybe with a flash, video recording, etc. Supposedly the iPhone can do video recording if you jail break it, so Apple will probably offer that feature in the future. They could have a video app for $5-10 and people would buy it up, putting tons of cash in Apple's pocket. Rather than just include it from the start for free.

Hey man thats sweet...My dad got a 3G and he ordered me one formy birthday...SADDLY!!!...They are all contract phones !....You cant buy them yet because there not even out yet. Im amazed by the 3G as when you click on any link it redirects you in seconds.

Did you get the Bonus software with yours ? In Uk they give you a bonus software where you get 5 programs free one of them is the one where you can controll your PC from anywhere in the world.

And 8 GB isnt that bad...is all you need relly..Dont listen to THOSE ASSHOLES WHO THINK I PHONE SUCKS...just because it only uses 02...You get unlocked ones now!
