Another snake!

Posted by WadeFulp - June 30th, 2008

Here's a northern water snake I pulled out of my parents' pond. They go after their goldfish, etc, so they don't want them around. I relocated him to another area, hopefully he won't find his way back. I had to reach under water and feel around under a rock to get him, hoping it wouldn't bite my hand as I couldn't see anything. Kind of like noodling for catfish. If you don't know what noodling is, look it up. These are also the most aggressive snakes in north america, they will try to bite you if they have the chance. They are not poisonous. Many people mistake these for copperheads, etc.

Another snake!

jesus fuck how do you find this shit

I'm pro.

did it bite you again?

Man, snakes are badass.

Wade Fulp part-time Snake Hunter....

On today's episode of Snaking with The Fulp we found Wade who stumbled apon a Nerodia sipedon also known as a Northern Water Snake while swimming in a goldfish infested water. He eventually caught this fiendish fiend and banned him from ever enter that pond again. Tomorrow's episode Wade will challenge a King Cobra to a biting competition.

cool, my grandma used to have that problem too, and I was always designated "snake catcher"

looks a bit like an australian brown snake

Oh Wade, your such a dirty ass fucking bastard ! :D

Pennsylvania is a snake-free-zone thanks to your efforts.

So thats a turtle, and 2 snakes

Well, for this month anyway. :) Total snakes caught to date is probably over 30, turtles probably just as many, frogs would be way more.

Wade's a snake magnet now?

"I had to reach under water and feel around under a rock to get him, hoping it wouldn't bite my hand as I couldn't see anything."

You're pretty brave. I wouldn't have done it. I don't mess with snakes. I got bit last time. :(

I normally wouldn't do that either, but watching Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs catching big water snakes bare handed gave me more confidence. Check it out on Youtube. Dirty Jobs Snakes

where did you took it, where you left the other one so it wouldn't be lonely?

Just to a creek about a mile away from my parents place.

i love snakes

Crikey! The most aggresive snake in north america! I'm gonna jam my thumb up it's butt.

looks like the other snake

so you're reaching into a pond for a snake that you can't see which may or may not be poisonous and may or may not bite you.

I saw it before it went under water and under the rock (it was like in a crevice along the side of the pond, like below the bank) so I knew it was just a water snake. However, it could have bitten me, but I was hoping it would be less liking to bite under water. :)

Did it lunge at you while you tried to get it?

After I pulled it out of the water I threw it up on land where I could work with it in the open. It was striking at me and I was able to gently hold it down with my shoe and grab it behind the head so it wouldn't bite me.

Good to see that even members of the NG staff can have a strange affinity for slippery and reptile-ey... um... things. XD

That looks like the snake who ate my father!

i bet you bought it from a pet shop and let it loose in their pond for attention

I bet that is something that you would do. Around here there are enough critters in the wild that I don't have to pull such a stunt.
