Baby snapping turtle saved!

2008-06-07 02:02:36 by WadeFulp

Well, not sure if snapping turtles are really worth saving, but it was just a "cute" little baby! I saw it crawling onto my town's bicycle / walking path and figured if I left him there he'd get squished or stomped, etc. So I picked it up and carried it nearly a mile down the path and put him in an area that I thought would be safe for it, a little cove along the creek where there isn't a swift current to sweep him away. I plopped him on a little stick at the edge of the water and continued my stroll with the kids. I was pushing the kids in their stroller.

Nice turtle!
We have big snappers around here, but I've never ever seen one that size.

Yet another victory to the fulp family.

2008-06-12 21:36:33

Damn n***h, that sure is small like a muthah fukcah.

2008-06-12 21:34:30

I use to have a snapping turtle too. I kept it for the longest time until it got too big to keep inside. Their cute while they are small.

2008-06-12 19:07:32

I saved a redbellied turtle before...... but it ran away :(

2008-06-12 15:47:39

To be honest i am a dont spend my money i like to save it because well i am sad also I am from the UK we do have digital cameras.

2008-06-12 12:22:32

I don't know I am not a dad, a one who doesnt like technology? Yes my phone does have a camera but ugh its terrible 0.3 megapixels.

WadeFulp responds:

Hehe, your comment just struck me as very odd considering the state of the world we live in, at least where I live. Digital cameras are cheap, high quality, small, and many people have them and are likely to carry one if they go out and about with their kids, etc. It's almost like asking "Why did you have a cell phone on you? Why were you wearing shoes?" :P

2008-06-11 20:27:55

ahhh how cute lol im just jk thats cool

2008-06-11 18:16:18

you will be called.....Snappy.

2008-06-11 18:16:06

Why don't you reply to all comments? Also that is cute and why did you have a camera with you?

WadeFulp responds:

It's 2008. Who doesn't have a camera on them? Doesn't your phone have a camera? Also what father goes out with his kids and doesn't bring along a pocket digital camera? :)

2008-06-11 18:05:22

Aw... it's adorable!

2008-06-11 16:13:16

weird, i saw a snapping turtle earlier today, it dug a hole in the grass next to my driveway i think yesterday, it was just sitting there and then left like 20 minutes
after i saw it.

2008-06-11 16:00:27

That was a decent thing to do Wadey. I see a ton of turtles crossing paths when I'm out for a stroll, almost like they have a death wish.

2008-06-11 10:44:08

Aww! He's a cute little turtle. ^_^

Just about a month ago I saved a turtle. It was some sort of boxing turtle. My little brother plays T-Ball, and he had a game, so off we went.

Well, I play sofball, so I brought my glove and ball so I could toss with my dad.
As we were tossing, I missed the ball on one of his throws, and I went to go get it.
In one of the dugouts, I saw a rather large turtle shell.
So, I picked him up, and layed him on the grass. Finally, after a few minutes, he was walking around, with me close behind it, with a bunch of little kids spazzing out about it.

Then, about 25 minutes later, it started to rain. My brother's game was canceled early, so I asked my parents if we could take the turtle in the car, and then release it in the nature trail near our house. (He had clawed feet, so he was a land turtle,)
They said yes, so the whole car ride, I sat next to a turtle.
We got to the nature trail, walked through it until we found a nice spot, and released him.
I named him Shellby. XD

Turtles actually make good pets.

Though lacking in emotion...they out-live your dogs or cats.

In Japan and Hawaii...there's something philosophical about them.

The turtle way, though he may move slow...he's trying with all his might!

Work Well
Eat Well
Play Well
Sleep Well

That is the turtle way.

Slow and Steady, but with all your focus and might.
